Roland’s practice areas include corporate services, disputes (litigation & arbitration), energy, mergers & acquisitions, tax, and technology, media & telecommunications.

Roland’s work experience pre-dates his joining the firm in 2023.  From 2020 to early 2023, he worked as a Paralegal Associate and acted as the Assistant Corporate Secretary of a consulting firm that is affiliated with a Japanese professional group with offices in Southeast Asia. His work included assistance in corporate housekeeping, and the conduct of due diligence work and research for clients regarding regulatory compliance of businesses, business registration, and corporate governance, among others.

While in law school, Roland was a member of the Order of the Purple Feather, the official honor society of the University of the Philippines College of Law. He also served as an Editorial Assistant for Volume 95 of the Philippine Law Journal, the oldest English-language law journal in Asia. Apart from these, he was also a part of an advocacy-driven organization UP Karapatan ng Komunidad sa Loob ng Selda (“KAKOSA”), a Merchandise Committee Member of the UP Bar Operations Commission, and a member of the UP Schola Juris Vespertina. In his senior year, he was a Legal Intern at the UP Office of Legal Aid (“UP OLA”) where he represented indigent clients in court proceedings, wrote various legal documents for their causes, and assisted in trial preparation for both criminal and civil cases. He thereafter served as a Legal Extern in the Energy Regulatory Commission.

On the other hand, while in college, Roland served as an Academic Committee Head of UP ECOSYSTEMSS.

  • Admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2023.

Roland has participated in several matters.  His experience has included:

  • Assisting in civil, criminal, labor and administrative cases before various Philippine courts and quasi-judicial bodies
  • Assisting with energy and infrastructure projects
  • Assisting with contract drafting for various corporate and commercial transactions
  • Conducting due diligence involving corporate acquisitions
  • Assisting with the general corporate housekeeping of various companies
  • Assisting in tax litigation cases before the Bureau of Internal Revenue
  • Assisting on tax treaty relief and tax sparing applications
  • Assisting in domestic and international arbitration cases
  • Rendering legal opinions for both local and foreign clients on general corporate law, mining and natural resources law, consumer protection, competition, technology, transportation, and energy law matters
